An Affordable Renovation
Does the dripping from a leak keep you awake at night? Or does 'dripping' or 'leak' sound like the only mode of water flow from your faucet? Feel happy, because it's a pretty quick and affordable fix. Actually, replacing your faucet is one of the most affordable remodels around. And many new faucet models can last a few lifetimes.
What to Look for in a Faucet
When shopping around for a faucet, don't get too caught up in price. Even though it's a relatively cheap renovation, you probably don't want to do it again in the next few years. Make sure you pick something aesthetically appealing to you, as well as practical and durable. While aesthetics are personal, practicality and durability are more universal. Here are some tips:
- Pick a model that has parts readily available. Not finding the correct washer sometime down the line will cause much frustration.
- Find a faucet that comes with a lifetime warranty for its internal valve and finish.
- Choose durability over price, inside and out. A faucet with a ceramic disc valve and a chrome finish will be most durable overall.
- Pick something that will best suit your needs, even if it costs more. Paying, say, $50 more for a pull-out spout for your kitchen sink might be a small price to pay in the long run.
Plumbing: A Professional Renovation
Plumbing definitely belongs under the category of "professional renovation." Who doesn't know someone who has taken this on him or her self only to eventually pay more to the plumber or contractor for repairing the attempted repair?
