- Go through your pet's fur with a fine-toothed comb and drop any fleas that you find into soapy water to drown them.

- Bathe your pet every week if possible.
- Ask your veterinarian for advice on treatments for flea infestation in your pets, which may include: shampoos, pills, ointments, or powders.

Once you have dealt with your pet's problems, you need to think about how to get rid of the fleas that are undoubtedly now plaguing your home.
- Vacuum thoroughly and often to pick up fleas and their eggs.
- Make sure the areas where your pets spend most of their time are cleaned regularly.
- Spray carpets with an appropriate insecticide.
- Call a pest control company if your own efforts are unsuccessful.
